The Citrus Clouds – A trip to another world

I have been listening to The Citrus Clouds for quite a few years now, and they are by far one of my favorite more "unknown" bands. Their music, especially some of their older pieces, is completely ethereal. It takes you to that place you've always wanted to reach, but have never been able to get to.

I have been listening to The Citrus Clouds for quite a few years now, and they are by far one of my favorite more “unknown” bands. Their music, especially some of their older pieces, is completely ethereal. It takes you to that place you’ve always wanted to reach, but have never been able to get to. I tried contacting them to get some inside scoop into what makes them tick, and what helps them make such amazing music. Their band’s email, however, was disconnected, so I think they may be on a hiatus from making music at the moment. That won’t stop me from showing some love for some of the most amazing feats of new-age music I have ever heard, and you should take the time to listen to, and discover this amazing artist!

Pick #1
Pick #2

Pick #3

#1 – Thorns on a Rose // Roots

“Your kiss is a hit, one pull and I’m lit. Helpless fixation, I can’t resist”

The Citrus Clouds, Thorns on a Rose

This masterpiece is probably my second favorite song of all time. It’s composed of two parts, with two different stories. The first half is about the struggle experienced within a loving relationship, that may not exactly be a healthy one. The sounds used to support the extremely powerful vocals, effectively rip at your heart strings, making you remember a time when you were struggling with the same problems. It emits a picture of a thundering, fiery love, with twinkling lights flying all around. A controlled chaos, just like the love being experienced. The second half of the song explains the pain and sorrow that comes with leftover feelings from that unhealthy, loving, relationship of fire. The entire feeling of the song changes, because the feelings they are trying to provoke are entirely different. The whole song is a compact masterpiece, transforming a common story of human desire into a musical playground.

#2 – Lost Wolves

“One kiss, your lips, I feel your touch. I want you now – I need to taste your soul”

The Citrus Clouds, Lost Wolves

Yet another ethereal masterpiece that Citrus Clouds put together is “Lost Wolves.” Using complicated pieces of a musical puzzle that just fits so well together. All together this song exemplifies a primordial view of love, and how it is a feeling that can transform you into an animal; an animal that craves everything from that one person, from your deepest desires, to your intangible ones. If there is one thing that makes The Citrus Clouds stand out from the rest of the musicians I listen to, it’s their ability to take raw human emotion, and bring it to life through complex sound and lyric. In doing so, teleporting you to that place in your mind where these emotions are housed.

#3 – All My Love

“I was a fool for your lies, and you wrapped my heart up in your roots. Tried so hard to cut them loose.”

The Citrus Clouds, All My Love

“All My Love,” is their most recent release, and it definitely has a different vibe than the previous two songs I have mentioned. It is much more upbeat and melodic, but the lyrical genius remains. Complex beats and sounds take over in the chorus, while the verses are dominated by heartfelt lyrics about love and compassion. This song, personally, illustrates a type of hopelessness you can feel in an unhealthy relationship. One where you just keep going, pretending everything is okay – parallel to the chorus of the song. And intermittently throughout the relationship, parallel to the verses, you have time to think and reflect, making it harder to keep going; yet you do.
